Taylor Woodruff

Director of Hilger Higher Learning

“Mr. Taylor” is no stranger to the homeschool world—or to Hilger! His parents began homeschooling him in 2000 when he started kindergarten, and his journey with Hilger Higher Learning began as a third grader. By high school, Taylor was a full-time student, finding his place in HHL’s culture and being shaped by the opportunities and relationships it offered. He was active in our Drama class, starring as George Bailey in It’s a Wonderful Life, helped launch the very first yearbook committee, and loved performing in the annual talent shows. His time at Hilger also included two mission trips to Haiti, where he and his classmates served at an orphanage. These experiences shaped his high school years and gave him a lasting appreciation for the impact of our community. Returning to HHL as our director, Taylor considers it a great honor to help steward its legacy and is committed to cultivating an environment where students can flourish both academically and spiritually.

After graduating cum laude from Lee University in 2018 with a B.S. in Public Relations and minors in Business and Communications, Taylor stepped into the professional world. He began his career in corporate communications, then served as the Public Information Officer at a local law enforcement agency, where he managed public messaging and community relations. Later, he moved into small business leadership as a director in the wellness industry, gaining valuable experience in operations, client care, and team development.

Passionate about investing in the next generation, Taylor has previously served in worship and youth ministry within the Vineyard church movement and continues to volunteer as a camp counselor for a week each summer at Camp Vineyard. In 2025, he completed his graduate studies at Richmont Graduate University, earning a Certificate in Spiritual Direction—a ministry of listening, prayer, and discernment that companions others as they grow in attentiveness to God’s presence.

Outside of work, Taylor enjoys traveling with his tiny camper, hiking, and living a lifestyle focused on health and fitness. He also loves spending quality time with his closest friends, performing in local musical theater, going to concerts, and caring for his pets and many house plants.
