Elementary Immersive Program: 1st Grade

Rachel is originally from Franklin, Tennessee where she grew up the second of nine children. She attended Wake Forest University in Winston Salem, North Carolina. After graduating, she married her husband, Corby Shields. They spent two years in Boston and eight years in Philadelphia where Rachel worked as a preschool teacher at a community center and for an educational non-profit. She and Corby and their four children moved to the Chattanooga area 12 years ago. She has been teaching 4-7 year olds in some capacity since 2016. Her family moved to Highland Park in 2023 to serve in a young church plant , Highland Park Fellowship where her husband serves as the pastor. Rachel loves to travel, explore the outdoors and is always working her way through multiple books. She loves learning and teaching and is thrilled to be part of the Hilger Community!
