Books: Order books through Rainbow Resource, Amazon, Christian Book Distributor, etc. Sometimes we recommend that you order from a specific company if the ISBN number does not take you to the correct book or if it is more expensive (as is often the case on Amazon).  Also, sometimes copying and pasting the ISBN number does not take you to the correct item. You might have to type in the name of the book, especially on Rainbow Resource Center, since they have their own way of cataloging items. You can always buy used books, unless it is a consumable workbook.

  • BJU Press Math Grade 1 Student Worktext, 5th Edition, ISBN: 9781646263974

  • Readers: We recommend you have a grade level set of easy readers at home for your child.  If you do not have access to readers, then we can send some home with your child each week. Used readers are easy to find. You know your child best…choose some readers that you think they will enjoy. Some inexpensive readers we recommend are (but not required): Primary Phonics Readers by EPS, the I Can Read It series, or the American Language Series.

Description:  Drop your child off for a total immersive experience - a 1st grade adventure!  Your child will be taught and led by a loving, nurturing teacher who will give your child the wonderful experience of a 1st grade classroom, all in one day.  We will provide the baseline for a 4-day curriculum of core subjects: Math, Handwriting, History, Reading/Phonics, and Literature. From there, families are free to alter the curriculum at any time based on your student’s needs. You may choose to go faster or slower…whatever is best for your child! The class will intentionally spend time outside exploring, discussing, learning, and MOVING!  We think the younger elementary years should be spent in awe and wonder of the world around them, asking questions, learning through observation, and developing a foundation for a life-long love of learning. Students will journey through a solid language arts curriculum including reading and writing, math lessons for the week, and God's story through history, literature, and the Bible.  They will also do fun activities like art, music, class parties, birthday celebrations, and more. Students will have multiple breaks, plenty of fresh air, and lunch (brought from home) on campus with their peers. Each week your child’s teacher will send home a guided plan for work to be done throughout the week.  Parents can use our program as a comprehensive curriculum for your child’s grade level, or you can add on additional subjects.  Some additional courses you do at home might include: geography, music, foreign language, typing/computer skills, P.E., etc. You can spread out your week a little more to make it a 5-day program, or you can keep our schedule and use the day off for field trips, appointments, rest, etc.  This class has a limited number of students (12).
