Heather Taylor
Pre-Calculus
Heather grew up in Chesapeake, VA, and came to Lookout Mountain to attend Covenant College as a Maclellan Scholar. While at Covenant, she played intercollegiate volleyball, spent a semester in China, made her very best lifelong friends, earned a bachelor's degree in mathematics, and graduated summa cum laude. Upon graduation, Heather married her college sweetheart, Matthew, and served as a mathematics teacher and volleyball coach at Gordon Lee High School in Chickamauga, GA. In 2005, she returned to Covenant College as the head volleyball coach of a struggling program. Over eight seasons, the team rapidly improved, and in Heather's last year, they went undefeated in conference play and won the conference tournament. Heather stepped down from coaching when she and Matt welcomed their third child, and she became a full-time, homeschooling mom. The Taylors now have five children, four boys and a girl, who are active swimmers, rowers, musicians, and soccer referees. Heather's prevailing passion for mathematics continually draws her back to the classroom. She delights in helping students see God's character reflected in the order and structure of mathematics, and she is excited to be a part of the Hilger community.
