Jamie Henderson

Elementary Immersive Program: 1st Grade
Elementary Extracurricular Day

Jamie was born and raised in Chattanooga, Tennessee, surrounded by family, many of whom encouraged her love of reading and writing throughout her childhood and early adulthood. During that time, she gained educational experience as a Teaching Assistant, tutor, reading/writing coach, and college mentor. She attended and graduated summa cum laude from Southern Adventist University in Collegedale, where she double majored in English and Education and minored in Religion. After graduation, she moved to Orlando, Florida, where she taught American Literature, Yearbook, and Public Speaking for two years. She also helped students start a creative writing and classic literature club, where students gathered to discuss short stories, study different forms of writing, and develop their writing skills. Outside of the classroom, she enjoys spending time with her friends and family, reading good books, writing poetry and short stories, and playing with her dog, Scout. Her philosophy of education is rooted in homeschooling methods, such as an emphasis on student interests, relationship building, and prioritizing students’ mental, physical, and emotional well-being. She is excited to put those into practice at Hilger Higher Learning!
