Behavior Guidelines
We require that at least one parent or guardian has a profession of faith in Jesus Christ and be in regular attendance at a local Christian church. We are a distinctly Christian tutorial program providing quality educational classes from a Biblical perspective for children of Christian families.
All parents and students are required to meet the following behavioral terms and conditions:

• The student must conduct him/herself in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ, as solely determined by HHL.
• The parent must be completely involved in every subject the student takes from HHL.
• The student must complete all homework on a consistent basis.
• The student must not have excessive absences. Our teachers will let you know if this becomes a problem.
• The student’s grades must reflect his/her ability.
• The student must leave the church premise (parking lot included) after class, unless otherwise supervised by an adult or
if he/she has another class within the allowed 10-15 minute window.

The great commandment that Jesus gave (Matthew 22:37-40) tells us to love God first and foremost, and to love our neighbors secondly.

“Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving.” Ephesians 5:4

“The Lord abhors dishonest scales, but accurate weights are his delight.” Proverbs 11:1

Micah 6:8 reveals that God requires us “to act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with our God.”

Matthew 18 Principle
“If your brother sins against you go and show him his fault just between the two of you If he listens to you you have won your brother over. But if he will not listen, take one or two others along, so that every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses. If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if he refuses to listen even to the church, treat him as you would a pagan or a tax collector.” Matthew 18:15-17
God’s word instructs and encourages us to talk directly to those with whom we are at odds. If your child has an issue with his/her teacher or another student, please call the teacher to get her perspective of the situation. Our teachers will call you or directly address your child (usually outside of class, one-on-one) if a misunderstanding or issue arises.

Church Stewardship
All students are expected to use First Alliance’s building as carefully as they would any other public or private building. Any abuse of the building will require immediate correction. Some other points to keep in mind are:
• Please do not drop your child off more than 10 minutes prior to the start of class. If your child drives, please do not allow him/her to arrive more than 10 minutes before the class starts.
• If your child has more than 10-15 minutes between classes, other than during our lunch time, he/she must be with you, another adult or an HHL teacher.
• Students may not enter the sanctuary, unless it is for a class or function, and students should not be in a vacant classroom unsupervised.
• If a student is caught writing on a table, he/she will be charged $100 to replace it. No food or drink should be eaten in church classrooms, unless there is a teacher supervised party.

Discipline

Correction or chastening is mandated by God through scripture for conduct that is unacceptable according to set standards. The ultimate goal for students is that they become self-correcting because they are truly committed to doing the will of the Father. In the event that a student at HHL needs correction, we are committed to working closely with the parents/guardians of that student to redeem the situation.

Communication and Music Devices
Ipods and other music devices are NOT allowed at Hilger. Ear buds and head phones are not allowed either. While cell phones are allowed, they should not be used in class or for musical purposes at any time. Students are allowed to text or use their phones during a break between classes. If your child has an emergency, and NEEDS to get in touch with you during a class, please have them ask permission from the teacher to step out of class and contact you.

Financial Information - Tuition, Fees
Invoices are emailed around the 5th of the month. Our registration form will ask you to initial and agree to the following:

•All monthly bills are due upon receipt and considered late if HHL has not received your payment by the last day of the
month.
• A $10.00 late fee will be added to each overdue monthly bill.
• If a check is returned for any reason, a $20 charge will be applied to your current monthly bill.
• If you withdraw from any class after the second week of class (unless it’s a semester long course), a $75 charge will be placed on your account.
• All registration fees and payments are non-refundable (with the exception of a class not forming or a class time changing).
• If your account becomes overdue by 2 months or more, you will be responsible for all late fees and collections fees if you are delinquent in paying.
• If your account is not paid in full by the end of each semester, HHL will withhold your child’s incomplete grades. Furthermore HHL reserves the right to inform your umbrella school of your child’s incomplete grade if deemed necessary.
• If your child is dismissed at any time of the year, all registration fees and payments will be forfeited.

Tuition payments may be placed in the secure lock box on the right-hand wall in the teachers’ office. You may also mail your payment to our address located on each page of this website.

High Priority - Academic Accountability
In seeking to develop a successful academic environment for each of our students, while maintaining academic integrity, any student who receives a “D” or lower will be put on High Priority - Academic Accountability. The parent will be notified in the form of a letter. Certain guidelines will be sent to you, along with monthly progress reports, to help your child progress and become more proficient in the area of study in which they are struggling.

Removal - Dismissal
If the aforementioned and future headings, as outlined in this registration, along with the terms and conditions as stated, are not met and/or if biblical behavior is not kept throughout the school year and/or over the summer, we reserve the right to ask the student to discontinue classes at Hilger Higher Learning. We have a zero tolerance policy if items such as, including but not necessarily limited to: alcohol, drugs, or tobacco are possessed, consumed or joked about by a student. Additionally, if a student is caught cheating on a test or quiz, he/she will be subject to dismissal from, and at the sole discretion of, Hilger Higher Learning.
